Welcome to Veterans Against Myeloma (VAM), a growing team of veterans battling Multiple Myeloma (MM).
Over the years, the IMF has been a resource for veterans seeking information about myeloma. Talking with vets has made us aware that many are in need of resources that can guide them through the process of applying for Veterans Administration (VA) benefits, including disability. The IMF’s new Veterans Against Myeloma (VAM) website addresses that need, providing key links to relevant VA websites, to state veterans assistance offices and to national veterans service organizations whose service officers help vets with the VA process. The VAM website will be updated regularly, and will include email alerts about breaking news and links to articles of interest. If you’re a vet and find this resource useful, please pass it on to others you know who may be going through a similar experience. Welcome to Veterans Against Myeloma.
Our Target: Multiple Myeloma – a cancer of the plasma cells, a type of white blood cell in the bone marrow.
Our Goal: Win the battle against Myeloma – Educate Veterans and Find a Cure.
Our Plan: Join forces to support Myeloma education and research.
Our Weapons: Knowledge, dedication, team spirit and increased support for MM education and research.
Why Vets? Servicemen and women dedicate their lives preparing for and fighting the enemy as an effective team. Veterans diagnosed with myeloma face a challenging new threat. What can we do about it? We can strengthen our hand in this demanding battle through increased knowledge and the best treatment based on the latest research. By joining forces through the Veterans Against Myeloma, we will help win this war and find a cure. Hopefully one day together we can say “Mission Accomplished!”
